- * There are over 100,000 children in Ukraine's orphanages. * There are more than 450 orphanages in Ukraine. * 90% are orphaned due to their parents' alcoholism, imprisonment, or abandonment. * 10% are orphans because of the death of their parents. * After "aging out" of the orphanage system at age 16,* 10% of orphans commit suicide before the age of 18. * 60% of the girls end up in prostitution. * 70% of the boys end up in crime. * Only 27% are able to find work. * The older a child gets, his or her chances for adoption drastically decrease. David, what a humbling blog today -- You truly "suffered the little children coming unto you" with the whole balloon story. WOW ! Praise God that he gave the strength and patience to fill up every balloon.:) I know that even in the simplicity of that act that you demonstrated God's love. Maks did a wonderful job with his photographing !! How great to have faces and names as we pray. God bless you today, David. You are in our prayers !
Working in preschool for several years, I've learned that there is no child that can't give love and or can't be loved. Even those that rock the peace of the classroom and can try the patience of a saint....still, sometime even more than the rest, I feel great love and joy working with them. These faces hold so much emotions, potential, hope and I'll pray with you that each find the plans that God has for them. Thanks David. I can only imagine the restlessness of your spirit. Thinking of you and your mission.
